| The SASW method was applied underground in a welded tuff in the Northern Ghost Dance Fault Alcove of the Yucca Mountain Project Exploratory Studies Facility in Nevada to evaluate the extent of rock damage induced by different excavation methods. Results indicated that shear wave velocities were lower in the zones excavated by drill-and-blast than in the zones excavated by mechanical means (road header or tunnel boring machine). | ![]() |
