Subsurface
Investigation Using Seismic and Electrical Methods
Non-intrusive
geophysical investigations of the subsurface are being conducted at various
locations on the Preserve in order to search for fissures and cavities
that could prove hazardous to further development of the site and to study
features which may hold cultural significance. Seismic measurements include
shear stiffness profiling, cavity detection by surface waves, and seismic
refraction. Electrical measurements include resistivity profiling and electromagnetic
conductivity mapping.
